VW set to appoint new CEO for USA… Dr. Kjell Gruner – Former Porsche + Rivian chief set to take over.

Volkswagen ...

Volkswagen is seeminlgy set to announce that Kjell Gruner will be the new CEO for North America Region. We were rooting for Pablo Di Si, with his background with Volkswagen Latin America, and seemingly bold moves like moving his office from the Washington DC area down to the factory in Chattanooga, but the rumour mill has been circling with changes forecasted at the top of the board in Volkswagen NAR (North America Region).

And it looks like it’s set to be announced that Dr. Kjell Gruner will be taking the reins as CEO and President of Volkswagen North America Region.

Dr. Gruner – no, not a medical doctor, but the Germans like to use the Dr. titles for engineers, and in this case, relating to a PhD in Marketing, and MS in Industrial Engineering – was previously at Rivian as CEO, the brand that recently got $billions in investment from Volkswagen. Prior to that, he was the President and CEO of Porsche in North America. So the resume seems decent.

What does this mean for the future? We have no idea, but we do know that next year’s USA Golf R will have the Akrapovič exhaust available for the first time..
