Surprisingly excellently entertaining ID Buzz video by VW nerd Jason Cammisa on Hagerty’s YouTube channel

We ...

We aren’t normally rushing to click on reviews of the VW Buzz, or in fact, clicking any of them really – but this is one seriously great video. There’s puns, there’s history, LOTS of history, and there’s a pletora of cars from Volkswagen of America’s classic collection including the lovely silver Rabbit GTI and their 1949 VW Beetle. And Jason if you don’t know, owns a Mk2 Scirocco, and a Mk1 Cabriolet, and a Mk7 e-Golf in his personal collection of cars, so this feels like an homage to the brand, told in his own pacticular flavour. One of us…! One of us…!

Seriously, the production, the writing, the camera work, just everything aligns in a heyday of Top Gear sort of way. The cars, the continued jokes to being ‘buzzed’ and seriously those dad jokes… wow.

When we had the oppiortunity to borrow VWUSA’s mk1 Rabbit GTI we let it warm up and kept the revs down, but aorund the 15m10s mark, Jason and his excellent camera (and audio) crew, have it pegged out at over 6,500rpm (from memory, that exhaust isn’t an original one, but hey, it’s 2024 and finding new parts is only geting harder, and cleanliness is important, and it does sound great…!).

Who is Hagerty you might also be asking? They’re a USA based insurance company, that specialises in antique and youngtimer collectible cars. My own car collection is insured by them, and I guess not having made any claims for years (*knock on wood* !) lets them have the monies to make this type of amazing video happen. Which honestly makes those premiums a little easier to bare..

Sp, give it a watch AND SWITCH ON THE SUBTITLES FOR EVEN MORE PUNS.
