SERVE & PROTECT
Car shows are changing. The local park is being replaced with the main high street. One day shows are slowly being overtaken by multi-day gatherings. Sponsors are finding less value in vending, often more interested in sponsoring specific events throughout the weekend. It’s been this way for a while, but we’re really starting to see the fruits of those labours now. When done right, and approached with community in mind, this growth is good. We need more of it. (Re)Enter Dubs at the Lake.
What’s up everybody. We’re Dubs Events, the group that is very proud to introduce Dubs at the Lake in its new form. We’re here for one reason – we were not about to let another good show disappear. If you ask Nick Berry, the guy in the driver seat of Dubs (and the man behind Open Air Imports), the motivation is pretty clear. “DATL was one of my favourite shows to attend as a spectator and has been a favourite vending spot of OAI for years. The community atmosphere mixed with a great location really makes the show special. When we had the opportunity to save not one, but two shows, the decision was easy”. That’s right, Dubs at the Gap was also included in the package…
Our vision is simple. An all-European car event focused on building community and keeping your car moving, all while spending time in a beautiful location. Events are laid out from Thursday evening through Sunday morning, with a schedule designed to keep your options open. 2024 was our “test run”, and we’re happy with the results. We also know the potential is much greater and we’re very motivated to see that through.
We kick the weekend off on Thursday evening with the Early Bird Meet. Grab some food, get a drink, and settle in after a few hours on the road. It’s the first chance to get eyes on someone’s winter project. But more importantly, it’s a time for catching up with those car show friends after a few cold months looked away in the warm.
Friday morning comes and the events get rolling. For those overland fans, the B2BFAB Offroad Excursion kicks off at 9am. Test your trail skills, or ride along and watch someone else sweat it out. Pro tip – bring your boots! If you’re coming in Friday morning, you’ll want to make it by 1pm for the One Love Auto Group x Open Air Imports Mountain Meet. This is the true kick off to the weekend, offering everyone a place to come say hi and take in the views as they arrive at Deep Creek Lake.
We blend Friday afternoon and evening together, leaving right from the Mountain Meet for ECS Tuning Cruisin’ the Lake at 3pm. This is one of the more anticipated events of the weekend and really gives attendees a chance to experience the scenery around the lake. Post cruise, we’ll end up at the Fun Zone for an evening of food, drinks and fun.
Even with the rain, DATL reminds us exactly why this community is special
Saturday is show day. This is a change of pace from the traditional Sunday show and we really had two reasons for it. We know from experience, whether vending or attending, the Sunday drive home is always a grind. And we wanted a later than normal start time to allow attendees to enjoy themselves on Friday. We’re hoping for some better weather this year, but we really believe this is the way to go.
We officially get underway at 12pm in our new location at the WISP Resort. With plenty of space to spread out, you can expect an easy to navigate show field with vendors mixed in throughout. Any and every Euro vehicle is welcome as we look to put together a show field that ranges from concourse, PVW quality builds to daily driven passion projects. We’ll cap it off with the Top 25 awards a little before 5pm. There is no official gathering planned post show, but you can likely count on an impromptu meet at one of the local breweries to keep the night going.
Sunday morning brings us one more chance to gather, laugh, and reflect on the show. The ROWE Cars & Coffee kicks off at 8am at the WISP and runs until the final car leaves the lot. This is the perfect end to an active weekend with laid back vibes to ease you into your drive home. Catch up with friends one final time, confirm plans for the next show, and hit the road.
We really cannot express how excited we are to revive this show. 2024 was our soft opening of sorts, and if its any indication of what’s to come, we have a hell of a lot to look forward to. The weather fought us all weekend, but the crowds never wavered, and we owe everyone a huge thank you for that. We think our buddy Tyler from ECS said it well. “Even with the cold and the rain, Dubs at the Lake reminds us time and time again exactly why this community is special. We rolled in to set up for the ECS Tuning Cruisin’ the Lake event, and it was immediately obvious that the weather wasn’t stopping the diehards. Folks were there early and staying late all weekend, ignoring the conditions to talk parts, plans, and dreams for the upcoming season. There’s a certain vibe you get when everyone pushes through less-than-perfect weather; it proves people aren’t here for the ‘likes,’ they’re here for the cars and the culture”.
This show will prioritise community and experience over everything. We’re committed to it 100%. That would not be possible without our many sponsors, and we’d be remiss if we did not say thank you to them for believing in and supporting this mission. Collaboration will be the tool that drives this scene forward, and we’re very much looking forward to being part of that movement. That comes with a responsibility to do right by the community, one that we’re honoured to carry.
We know it’s still early, but schedules fill up fast! Registration for the show is open now – head to www.dubsevents.com to lock in your spot. Don’t forget to pre-order a show t-shirt, it’s the only way they’ll be available this year! Follow @dubsevents for show info…and keep an eye out for updates on our next project!
